Thinking about joining the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering program and looking for a little financial help? You may be eligible to receive the following scholarships:

 

Scholarships Established and Endowed by Alumni

  • Amount dependent on account balance.
  • Recipient shall be junior or senior students chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Dr. Robert Banks is a posthumous member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.
  • Amount dependent on account balance.

  • Awarded to a junior or senior student who is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha with a preference for chemical engineering students.

  • Dick Bauer is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.
  • Amount dependent on account balance.

  • Awarded to incoming or continuing undergraduates who are members (or prospective members) of Lambda Chi Alpha. Preference is given to chemical engineering students.

  • Jim Bertelsmeyer is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers and served as president of the Academy during 1998-1999. Jim also served the department on the Advisory council.

  • Student with at least a 3.0 GPA and majoring in Chemical Engineering to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Bipin Doshi is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Recipient must be a junior and in the upper 25% of their class in Chemical Engineering.

  • Recipient shall be any undergraduate engineering student in the following fields: Chemical, Biological, Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Architectural, Environmental, Metallurgical or Electrical with a preference for Chemical Engineering students. Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Renewable upon re-application each year.

  • Dr Hankinson is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Student must be enrolled as Chemical Engineering major to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Art Helwig is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers and was president of the Academy during 2000-2001.

  • Recipient to be undergraduate pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering and shall maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, to be chosen by department chairman or scholarship committee.

  • George Jamieson is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Undergraduate Chemical Engineering students in good academic standing and who are US citizens.

  • This scholarship was established by Zebulun Nash, an MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers member, in memory of his mother.

  • Awarded to undergraduate chemical engineering student in good academic standing. Dennis Parker is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers, serving as president during 2002 and 2003.

  • Dennis was also a member of the ChE Advisory Council serving as president from 1999-2001.

  • Junior or above with a 3.0 GPA or above; selections made by the Chemical Engineering Scholarship Committee.

  • Dr. David Porchey is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers, serving as the founding president from 1996 to 1997. Dr. Porchey also served on the ChE Advisory Council.

  • Recipients shall be undergraduate majoring in Chemical Engineering at the junior level or higher who demonstrate excellent academic performance.

  • Mr. Rao is an alumni of the UMR Chemical Engineering Department.

  • Junior or senior students who are U.S. citizens and recommended by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • One scholarship/year, high academic achievers with some financial need, preferably students from the Midwest, especially Missouri and surrounding states, chemical engineering student to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Ken Riley is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Recipients shall be undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in UMR Chemical & Biological Engineering.

  • Mr. Roberts was an alumni of the UMR Chemical Engineering Department.
  • $2,000/year

  • Recipient shall be seniors, a minimum 3.0 GPA (no grade below a 2.0) plus this has to be maintained in order to receive the second installment ($1,000 a semester).

  • Paul Rothband is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Recipient shall be a student majoring in Chemical Engineering and has a in Chemical Engineering and has a financial need. Selection will be made by Chemical & Biological Engineering Department.

  • Mr. Shockley was an alumni of UMR Chemical Engineering.
  • $6,000 a year

  • Entering freshmen, preference to out-of-state students with a GPA of at least 3.0, application material (resume, application letter, high school & college transcripts, 2 recommendation letters) should reach Dr. Ludlow before November 1; scholarship is renewable if the recipient is making normal progress toward B.S. degree.

  • Gerry Stevenson is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers. Gerry also served on the ChE Advisory Council.

  • Recipient Shall be a student in Chemical & Biological Engineering and have a high financial need.

  • Mr. Unnerstall is a member of MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Students enrolled in chemical engineering.

  • Endowment established by Mrs. Dorothy Vogt and her son Fred K. Vogt Jr. in memory of husband and father.

  • Fred K. Vogt Jr. is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.
  • $500 scholarship for the AIChE President and $1,000 for a Pi Kappa Alpha member who is in chemical engineering with the best academic record.

  • Dr. Al Wentz is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • For one chemical engineering student with a GPA above 3.00. Linda Wright served on the ChE Advisory Council.

  • Recipients shall be majoring in Chemical and Biological engineering and have a high financial need. Selection of recipients will be made by UMR Office of Student Financial Assistance.

  • Mr. Wood is a member of MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

Scholarships Established to Honor Chemical Engineering Faculty

  • Amount dependent on account balance.

  • To provide financial assistance to Chemical Engineering students through scholarships, fellowships, tuition and fees, travel, and/or expenses associated with their studies.

  • Dr. Carr was a former Chemical Engineering faculty member from 1961-1979.
  • Amount dependent on account balance.

  • Recipients shall be chemical engineering students in good academic standing without regard to race, creed, or national origin.

  • Dr. Conrad was a former Chemical Engineering faculty member from 1936-1969.
  • Amount dependent on account balance.

  • Recipient to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee, preference to international (Vietnamese) undergraduate and/or graduate student.

  • Dr. Findley was a former Chemical Engineering faculty member from 1965-1991.
  • Amount dependent on account balance.

  • Entering freshman, transfer student, or current chemical engineering student in good academic standing to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Dr. Grice was a former Chemical Engineering faculty member from 1964-1993. Dr. Grice is a posthumous member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Recipient to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Dr. Johnson is a UMR Alumnus and was a Chemical Engineering faculty member for 43 years from 1958 to 2001. He served as department chair from 1979 to 1990. Dr. Jim Johnson was a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers until he passed away in February 2002.

  • Dr. Marchello was formerly a UMR Chancellor from 1978 to 1985 and a member of the Chemical Engineering Faculty. Dr. Joseph Marchello was a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers. Dr. Marchello passed away in 1999.

  • Entering freshman, transfer student, or current chemical engineering student in good academic standing to be chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Dr. Strunk was Chemical Engineering Department Chairman (1964-1979) and member of the faculty from 1957 to 1979. Dr. Mailand Strunk is a member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

  • Chemical engineering student chosen by department chair or scholarship committee.

  • Dr. Thompson was a Chemical Engineer faculty member from 1956 to 1978. He served as department chair 1956 to 1964, as Dean of Engineering and Acting Chancellor. Dr. Dudley Thompson is a posthumous member of the MSM/UMR Academy of Chemical Engineers.

Company Sponsored Scholarships

  • Amount dependent on donor.

  • Department chair or scholarship committee selects a deserving student, U.S. citizen, junior status, at least a 3.0 GPA and a chemical & biological engineering major. A resume, statement of purpose, and a state of application must be submitted to the department.

  • Applications are available at the Chemical & Biological Engineering Department.

  • Recipient shall be juniors or seniors who are U.S. citizens or holders of permanent resident visas (non-continuous).

  • Awarded to undergraduate chemical engineering student in good academic standing.
