| F. FREDERICK KIELHORN
Founder and Managing Director
B.S. ChE 1987, University of Missouri-Rolla
Fred started his career in 1987 with DuPont Fluoroproducts holding a variety of positions in R&D, technical service, product management, marketing and business management. Then in 2000, Fred and his wife, Lynne, started a company called NanoDrop Technologies, Inc., a supplier of ultra violet visible *UV-Vis) spectrophotometry and fluorescence scientific instruments to the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries. In his role as Managing Director, he managed sales, distribution, operations and IT. In 2007, NanoDrop was sold to ThermoFisher Scientific. In 2007, Fred became founder and owner of Kielvest LLC, a private investment company specializing in unique companies with a technology focus.
In June of 2008, Fred donated a NanoDrop 1000 spectrophotometer and a NanoDrop 3300 Fluorspectrometer for use in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. While at university, he was active in the Interfraternity Council, Tau Beta Pi and Campus Leaders. Fred and his wife, Lynne, reside in Wilmington, Delaware. Fred was inducted into the Academy in 2009.
