From the Department Chair

I am delighted you are interested in our department. As you navigate through our website you will note our program offers an outstanding degree in chemical engineering and has a biochemical emphasis program for those students interested in the application of biology and biochemistry to the processing industries. Missouri S&T chemical engineering has an excellent student body that is committed to academic excellence and is also involved in numerous co-curricular activities. The Missouri S&T American Institute of Chemical Engineer's student chapter is very active and provides students with opportunities to interact with industry representatives as they develop their professional careers. The chemical engineering honor society, Omega Chi Epsilon, provides an excellent venue for students to learn more about scholarship, research and development pursuits. The Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity provides students with the opportunity to interact with students from chemistry, ceramic engineering and metallurgical engineering. Missouri S&T has international recognition for its performance in design competitions such as the solar car challenge, the sustainable house, and the hydrogen fuel station of the future. Our students are encouraged to participate in all these activities.

Our faculty are collectively dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education, graduate research and professional service. They are involved in a wide range of academic pursuits and are actively engaged with world class research. Missouri S&T provides students, both graduate and undergraduate, with an enviable environment in which to further their education, research and professional skills.

Missouri S&T has a long tradition of providing quality chemical engineering education and we have strong support from our alumni. Our alumni have reached leadership positions in industry, government and academia and many of these volunteer to return to campus each year to provide council and insight through Missouri S&T's Corporate Development Council, the Department's Advisory Council and the MSM-Missouri S&T Academy of Chemical Engineers.

Our vision is to continue to strengthen our programs by adapting to the education and research needs of the profession and develop into a department that is nationally and internationally well recognized. Should you be interested in knowing more about our department, please feel free to contact me or one of our faculty members. We welcome you to visit our beautiful campus, located in the foothills of the Ozarks, and tour our teaching and research facilities. Please let us know if you are interested in doing so.
